PRAIA, CAPE VERDE
Praia is the capital, the seaport and the largest city of the Republic of Cabot Verde, is located on island Santiago. The population of the city is about 62000 inhabitants. As the capital Praia has been appointed in 1770 when Cabot Verde was the Portuguese colony. After an appropriation by the country of independence in 1975 the city has saved the status.
Praia is an important unit of marine transatlantic lines and the center of trade in agricultural production in Cabot Verde. Here the food-processing industry, effecting of furniture and building materials, and also industry of tourism are advanced.
