Here it is possible to meet, as, for example, in Egypt, the historical monuments numbering 5 thousand of years about which it is possible to say how about pyramids of Giza: <the History is not afraid of time, but time is afraid of pyramids>, and also architectural ensembles of epoch of the Middle Ages, embodied in mosques and palaces. The special influence on architecture of relatively young capitals of the African states was rendered with colonial epoch. It has left after itself colorful, sometimes grandiose ensembles of the palace buildings executed artificially, in a tropical modernist style, for example, numerous private residences of colonial administration in Luanda (Angola) or in Maputo (Mozambique), in Algeria (Algeria) or Dakar (Senegal)...
For decades of independence in some states there were civil wars, economic ailments have resulted in becoming old of many architectural masterpieces. The majority of the African capitals have changed completely - in them modern multistoried residential quarters, office buildings, ultramodern offices of the companies and banks have grown, modern communications have been laid, industrial regions and student campuses have emerged. Due to the features of the national history and culture, and specificity of the geographical location each African capital is unique.
